Intercity Transit

TriTAG supports better transportation options within Waterloo Region, but we also want good connections to and from other cities.

We support GO expansion to the region, both to provide a transit alternative to commuters but also as reliable intercity travel.

TriTAG is opposed to the building of a new $400 million Highway 7 between Kitchener and Guelph, and would like to see funds directed instead to transit infrastructure between the two cities, such as the proposed GO train extension through Guelph to Kitchener. At the very least, the project should be postponed until the impacts of GO trains on the corridor can be assessed.

We support high-speed rail in the Windsor-Quebec corridor with connections to Kitchener or Cambridge, and we support increases in existing VIA Rail service and reliability.
